QUIRK

The most basic form of landmass mimicry is the ability to camouflage within certain landscapes. While not the best for close combat, Aoi’s powers allow her to be extremely useful in the case of recognition and intel missions. Blending in with the scenery could also prove useful in recovery situations. Aoi is always fascinated to find new uses for her quirk, although they are very limited. In rare occasions she could also grasp the power of the mass she is copying, however the effect is very short-lived and in some cases, not very efficient (for example, Aoi can mimic the pattern of a rock and could also gain its properties, like incredible strength, but after about 30 seconds, she would lose the properties of the rock and could only use the appearance).

She cannot stay camouflaged for a long time either (around 20-30 minutes); although it does not require a lot of energy, it feels just like a workout for Aoi since it engages her core a lot. Given that she is in a quite bad physical shape; she cannot hold her power for long. The after effects aren’t too bad, they are just like sore muscles, not very painful, but very uncomfortable. This tends to limit her power even more after abusing it because it tends to hurt her physically. Overusing her power could lead to serious physical damage, such as torn muscles, depending on which part of the body is used the most.

PERSONALITY

+    Logical | Friendly | Focused | Aspiring | Cooperative
0    Competitive | Driving | Predictable
-    Hesitant | Insecure | Salty Petty | Secretive | Vulnerable

Aoi is an incredibly determined person, both as a hero as well as a student. She has her own ideas, terrible or brilliant, never afraid to put either into practice. However, she is easily influenced by other people, which doesn’t always benefit her. Aoi can be extremely driven by competition sometimes, and as logical and focused as she can be, if she fails at something, she can’t help but feel extremely sorry for herself. One of her favorite things to do is to keep her life private, therefore not revealing any secrets to anyone, unless she considers them a good enough friend.

Being top of the class all the time has taken a toll on her and lately she has been extremely insecure and hesitant with her actions as a hero in training. The hesitation only takes place in combat and training, not in relationships with people. In that aspect, Aoi is very open and friendly. Other than that, it wouldn’t take too long to get to know her as she befriends people easily.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in the capital of Japan, Aoi was always taught by her family to be respectful and blend in as much as possible. Her mom has always been in love with the idea of being a pro hero, however it never really worked out for her. Aoi has grown up listening to her mother telling stories about how great and pure heroes are and how sad she is that she never got to pursue this in life. As a kid, she never gave it much thought but later in life, Aoi felt like it was her duty to fulfill her mother’s dreams.

Until the age of three, Aoi was living with her grandparents and her grandmother was the main caretaker. She had to move back in with her parents after her grandfather passed away and her grandmother took on a job for a very rich family, not being able to raise her anymore. While young enough to not understand what a big deal her grandfather passing was, she understood that nana needed more money after spending so much with his burial, that she didn’t care much for her absence. She would visit Aoi and her family every day after work, so it wasn’t that bad as Aoi had expected it to be. She even got to meet the family that her nana was working for, and although she thought their child was too spoiled and didn’t really hang out that much with him, she occasionally visited too.

Verging on the age of 5, Aoi was patiently waiting for her quirk to manifest. One day in kindergarten all the kids were playing hide and seek, and while many of them were already using their quirks to some extent, Aoi was unprepared when the countdown finished. She backed up to a brick wall and held her breath, hoping somehow that person wouldn’t see her. And it was in fact true, as that was the first time her chameleon quirk had manifested. It took a while for her to figure it out, checking one of her hands. As soon as she took her other hand away from the wall, the other person shouted “You’re it!”. Aoi figured she had to be in direct contact with a surface in order to gain its appearance. Her stomach however felt a little lighter, and as she would discover in time, her quirk acted as a core workout, engaging her stomach muscles. As a child that was no problem, as she was a pretty active kid, however, growing up, being more and more sedentary didn’t and still doesn’t benefit her at all.

One day, when she was 7, Aoi’s parents started acting really weird around her and she wanted really bad to know if she did anything wrong to upset them. The charades kept up for a couple of days, until her nana visited them, after all she was very close to Aoi and couldn’t stay away for long. Seeing her grandmother in a wheelchair, it was too much for her young mind to take in. She threw fits all day and refused to talk to anyone until her nana would take her to see the spoiled brat for a “playdate”. Once they arrived at his mansion, her nana had to hold her back from lashing at him. Aoi was touching the metal of the wheelchair and in a fit of rage, transformed her fingers into something similar to knives. If her nana wouldn’t have used her sleep inducing quirk, Aoi could have seriously got the boy injured.

Over the years, Aoi had grown closer to her mother and her grandmother, and sort of finally came to terms with what happened. She always struggled to be a good kid and have good grades. Her dream of becoming a pro hero was not to hold a legacy anymore, it was also to avenge what happened to her grandma and to ensure that nothing like this would happen to ordinary people anymore.
